Obesity / Overweight
Maintaining a healthy weight is critical for Ideal Health & Wellness. Obesity is a major problem in the USA. According to National Statistics by the CDC, 36.5% of people are considered Obese (BMI >30) and about 74% are considered Overweight (BMI >25)
Obesity increases the risk of the following diseases:
- Cardiovascular Disease / Heart attacks
- Diabetes Mellitus
- Certain Cancers (Breast, Colon, Endometrial, Esophagus, Kidney)
- Gall bladder stones / Gallbladder Disease
- Obstructive Sleep Apnea / Asthma
Weight Loss vs Body Recomposition
Losing Body weight is a great goal. However, it is important to recognize that an Ideal Weight loss program should focus on losing Body fat while conserving Muscle and maintaining adequate hydration. Most weight loss programs focus merely on losing weight, but not on how the body composition changes.
BMI is defined as Weight in Kg / (Height in meters )2. BMI alone is a poor indicator of Body composition. For example, a very fit & healthy Muscular athlete who has 5% body fat with a BMI of 28 is considered Overweight! Therefore, weight loss based purely on BMI is not the best way to get to an Ideal healthy state.
The most important goal of Weight loss is to reduce the risk of Heart Disease and Stroke. Visceral fat is the deep fat stored in the Belly around the Internal organs (Pancreas, Intestines, Liver). Visceral fat secretes a protein called Retinol-binding protein 4(RBP4), which is responsible for Insulin resistance. A reduction in the Visceral Fat has been shown to significantly reduce the risk of Heart Attacks and Strokes. Therefore, a better way of looking at Weight loss is to analyze the Body composition and work towards changing the Body composition (Re-composition) of the body.
The Ideal way of calculating the desired body weight would be based on desired Body Fat percentages.
The following is a table of Body fat percentage ranges in Women and Men based on Activity levels
The formula for calculating Ideal Body weight based on Body Fat % is
Ideal Body Weight = Lean Body Mass / (1-Desired Body fat %)
History of the HCG Weightloss Diet:
Dr Albert T.W. Simeons, a British Endocrinologist, originally came up with the HCG Diet. While he was studying pregnant women in India who were on a Calorie-deficient diet, he noticed that they lost fat rather than lean muscle tissue. He hypothesized that the HCG is programming the Hypothalamus to mobilize abnormal, excessive fat deposits to protect the developing fetus during a calorie deficient state. He also noted the same phenomenon (Losing fat rather than lean muscle) among Obese kids with Frolich’s syndrome (Pituitary disorder) while being treated with low dose HCG.
Based on these Observations, Dr Simeons recommended low-dose daily HCG injections (125 IU) in combination with a customized (VLCD) very low calorie diet (500 calories per day, high-protein, low-carbohydrate/fat) diet, which resulted in loss of Adipose tissue without loss of Muscle.
Dr Simeons published a book titled “Pounds and Inches” in 1954 to help the fight obesity.
What is HCG?
HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) is a natural hormone produced by our bodies.
HCG is a Glycoprotein hormone made of 237 amino acids. It has 2 subunits:
The α (alpha) subunit is identical to the pituitary hormones LH, FSH & TSH
The β (beta) subunit has 145 amino acids and is unique to HCG
Human chorionic gonadotropin is produced by the Placenta during Pregnancy. The role of HCG during pregnancy is to help the production of Progesterone, so that the uterine lining thickens and allows the Pregnancy to continue well.
Functions of HCG:
HCG is produced by many tissues in both Women and men. It is a hormone that controls many metabolic functions and is used to treat many medical conditions.
Research has been done on the Anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer uses of HCG in Breast cancer and Melanoma. The reduced incidence of Breast cancer among females with multiple pregnancies is thought to be due to the presence of high levels of HCG for long periods of time.
HCG has been thought to promote fat loss by:
- Stimulating the Hypothalamus to induce Lipolysis (Fat burning)
- Stimulate Testosterone which reduces Visceral fat & increases Muscle mass
- Anti-Inflammatory action improves Insulin resistance & reduces Diabetes
- Stimulate TSH which increases T3 (Thyroid hormone) known to burn fat
- Stimulate GH which increases Muscle mass and reduces Visceral fat
- Stimulate Leptin which signals the Hypothalamus that the Stomach is full
How Does the Diet Work?
Dr Simeons based on his observations, used Injections of HCG, in combination with a very Low-Calorie Diet (VLCD). He had good success in having patients lose fat located in abnormal areas (Upper Chest, Abdomen, Thighs). Dr Simeon’s hypothesized that HCG resets the hypothalamus to mobilize fat from existing abnormal fat cells, making it available for energy.
Instead of using Injections, most patients prefer to use Sublingual HCG tablets (Pharmaceutical grade) which seem to have produced good results in patients on the HCG diet. Most men and women can utilize and benefit from the HCG diet.
Even though patients are consuming only 500 calories per day, HCG seems to curb hunger, preserve muscle and allow patients to preferentially lose fat above and below the Umbilicus.
Along with appropriate implementation and adherence to the HCG protocol, we strongly recommend that our patients coordinate with their primary care physician regarding their weight loss goals.
Our Physician supervised program provides the personal attention you deserve and unlimited phone support to address any issues that the patient has to ensure maximum success. Through our Weight Loss program, patients are assisted in their restorative journey towards Ideal health & wellness.
How our Physician supervised HCG Weightloss Program works:
At Ageless Integrated Medicine, we provide Physician directed weight loss utilizing HCG and appropriate nutrition. Our Weight Loss program helps our patients manage their weight and take control of their cravings & eating habits.
Prior to starting the Weight loss program, an Initial evaluation which includes a detailed History and Physical examination and thorough Blood work analysis is done to identify possible medical reasons for being overweight. The blood work panel focuses on measuring Hormone levels (Testosterone, Thyroid, Growth hormone and Fasting Insulin), markers for Diabetes, High Cholesterol, and Metabolic Syndrome.
In our experience with the HCG weight loss program, we have seen that patients with balanced hormones have greater results and have more success in maintaining weight loss.
During the Initial consultation, we do Body Composition analysis using the INBODY 770 (BIA) Machine to accurately measure your Body fat percentage. Our Physician will discuss your blood work and INBODY report in detail and provide detailed instructions about the Diet program and answer any and all questions you have. In particular, our Physician will address your issues and struggles with appetites, meal choices, and unhealthy cravings, and help to correct them. Our Physician is passionate to help you successfully achieve your weight loss goals.
As part of our Weight Loss Program we provide FOUR in-office visits with our Physician. We also provide unlimited Phone support during the Diet. Our primary goal is to provide the personal attention you deserve & help you achieve your Ideal body weight successfully.
Potential Benefits of our HCG Weightloss Program include:
- Reduction in appetite and Cravings
- Significant reduction in Visceral Fat
- Improved Cholesterol profiles (Lower triglycerides)
- Increased HDL (the “good” cholesterol)
- Improvement in Metabolic syndrome (Decreased Fasting Insulin levels)

These weight reduction treatments include the injection of HCG, a drug which has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration as safe and effective in the treatment of obesity or weight control. There is no substantial evidence that it increases weight loss beyond that resulting from caloric restriction, that it causes a more attractive or “normal” distribution of fat or that it decreases the hunger and discomfort associated with calorie-restricted diets.
